About Boathouse Theatre Arts Charity
Registered Charity 1156740
Founded in 2010, Boathouse Theatre Arts is a charity based in Hastings and Bexhill that provides group performing arts sessions for adults and children with learning difficulties and Autism.
In our workshops members can learn a variety of theatrical skills alongside life skills.
Our mission
Our mission is to enrich lives, unlock potential and celebrate human expression through the arts. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to shine on stage and in life.

Our values
Our members are at the core of our values.
We believe in accessible theatre for all and strive to achieve that.
We believe in equality in the arts, that everyone has a right to access education to further their skills and to be represented.

Our story
Boathouse Theatre Arts was founded in November 2010 by Kim and Kevin Barry and their daughter Olivia. Olivia designed the original logo for Boathouse, which we still love and use a variation of today!
Kim and Kevin built a solid foundation for Boathouse Theatre Arts and only stepped down in 2020 when they moved back to Wales.
Millie Rowland, CEO of Boathouse Theatre Arts
Since 2020, Millie Rowland has been the CEO of Boathouse Theatre Arts. Millie was the perfect candidate for CEO after our founders Kim and Kevin Barry moved to Wales in 2020, as Millie is one of the original members of staff teaching at Boathouse Theatre Arts, having been there at the conception meeting.
